About 30 men of Saint Peter's participated in "Exodus 90" in the months leading up to Easter, experiencing tremendous spiritual growth and peace through prayer, asceticism, and fraternity.
Exodus is now offering a program for the 49 days of the Easter season, guiding us through the Acts of the Apostles. The expectations are much lighter than Exodus 90 (see below), allowing participants to celebrate the Easter season while continue to grow as Catholic men, husbands, and fathers.
All men are welcome to sign up, whether or not they have participated in Exodus 90 before. Non-Catholics are also welcome to participate.
We will have two fraternity options at Saint Peter's, to finish in time for the Sunday morning Masses: Sunday at 7:45 (prior to 9am Mass) and Sunday at 9:45 (prior to 11am Mass). The first meeting will be on Sunday, April 16.
To sign up for Sunday at 7:45, please download the Exodus 90 app and use this fraternity link. Or just come to the first meeting, and the men will help you get set up! It will be held in the parish life center (where coffee and donuts are.)
(Update 3/26/23: Almost everyone signed up for the earlier option rather than 9:45, so those participating at 9:45 decided to join with the 7:45 and just have one fraternity.)
Read the daily reflection for the Easter Season. The readings are your guide through this spiritual journey. Take time to let the word of God speak to you through these daily readings.
Set aside a minimum of 20 minutes for silent, personal prayer before the Lord.
At the end of the day, prayerfully examine your actions (and inactions) throughout the day. Where did you see God working in your life? Acknowledge where you responded to God’s grace and where you chose to do otherwise.
Every Sunday is a Little Easter and should be observed with joyful celebration and rest. How many of us unknowingly resent the Lord's Day by succumbing to the Sunday blues? Pattern your day for prayer, family, and friends.
Take an hour for silent, personal prayer before our Lord at least once per week. Plan your chosen day to fit this in.
Do not consume meat on Friday in honor of Christ's death on the cross on Good Friday. Look for other sources of protein such as beans, peanut butter, etc.
On Fridays, offer up a cold shower. A comfortable, hot shower is a good thing in and of itself. Yet, when we place the comfort of the hot shower perpetually in the place of a sacrificial, uncomfortable, cold shower, we choose to perpetually trade an opportunity to sacrifice for fleeting personal comforts.
Once a week, everyone in your fraternity should meet to check in about their fidelity to their Plan of Life and pray together. Stay faithful to this commitment you made to your brothers. Do your part to make your fraternity a committed band of brothers.
